Megan Buchholz
A health care professional with passion!
Meet Megan Buchholz!
In 1999, she graduated from Centennial College with a diploma in Nursing and then two years later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ryerson. After college Heather worked 2 years on a general medicine floor but then quickly moved on to Labour and Delivery. She did a placement in University in L&D and developed a love for caring for new mothers and newborns. As the years went on she realized that although content in her job, she missed my days in general medicine and all the diversity it offered.
In 2008 Megan joined the Apheresis team at St. Michael’s hospital, where she has been since. Megan is approaching her 13th year at St Mike’s and has never been as happy in a job as she is there.
Megan's days in Apheresis are primarily spent treating pt’s suffering from auto immune diseases, ‘washing out’ their antibodies with a really cool machine. She gets to work in a variety of units and is continuously learning new things and gaining new skills.
On the side Megan teaches, participates in research, has been published twice, worked in the Covid Assessment Centre, worked in the Covid vaccination clinic and recently was re-deployed as a Nursing Extern Coordinator for St Mike's hospital.
As well, she has 11 year old twin boys and has been happily married for 9 years.
